Social Media Use By Retailers Soars

Social media use by retailers soars

Date: Saturday, May 28, 2011, 9:58am EDT
Shoppers are willing to interact with retailers on a number of different social networks in order to find information on deals, products and contests, according to the 2011 Social Commerce Study, which polled nearly 1,800 adult online shoppers in April.

According to the survey, 42 percent of online shoppers follow a retail via a social network site, with the average shopper following six retailers. Fifty-eight percent follow companies to find deals, 49 percent want information on products and 39 percent seek information on contests and events.

Of those surveyed, 56 percent of the Facebook users and 67 percent of the Twitter users visited a retailer’s Web site as a result of a post or Tweet. Shoppers also said they would be willing to purchase a retailer’s product directly from Facebook (35 percent) or Twitter (32 percent).

Not only are shoppers using social media sites to interact with retailers, they’re accessing those networks via their smartphones and mobile tablets, such as Apple Inc.’s iPhone and iPad and Google Inc.’s Android devices.

Forty-two percent of Twitter users and 34 percent of Facebook users visit the site at least once per day using their smartphone, according to the survey.

“Instead of waiting to get back on their desktop computer to watch videos or interact online, Americans are easily accessing social networks when they have even a few moments of down time, whether they’re scanning Facebook news feeds while picking up their kids from school or tweeting about their shopping experience while browsing the mall,” said Fiona Swerdlow, Head of Research at Shop.org. “The popularity of mobile devices will only boost the power of social commerce, which presents an incredible opportunity for retailers.”

Iran, Syria, Libya, Turkey Stage Palestine PR Event Nakba in Israel

Iran, Syria, Libya, Turkey Stage Palestine PR Event Nakba in Israel

By Joel Leyden
Israel News Agency
Jerusalem ---- May 14, 2011 ...... It's not about Palestine or the Palestinians. What the world is about to witness is event marketing at its very, oil funded best. Iran, Syria, Libya, Turkey and Qatar are now funding a PR diversion away from the hundreds of murders in Syria and Libya by government forces against pro democracy citizens and focusing on Israel.

Whenever Arab states are forced to confront poverty, disease and a total lack of basic human rights in their own countries they always use the Palestinians.

They pour millions of rich oil dollars into PR campaigns to deflect from the suffering in their own totalitarian states to discredit the only free democracy in the Middle East - Israel.

The Nakba Day protests for Palestine are nothing less than a professional marketing charade. Instead of monies going towards new hospitals and the implementation of basic human rights for Palestinians living under terror group Hamas ruled Gaza, Arab oil money is going towards the throwing of rocks and terror attacks on peace seeking Israel civilians.

One only needs to look at the facts.

Nakba Day Palestine protests were created to mark the protest against the creation of Israel in 1948. What almost everyone seems to forget is that the Arabs living in British ruled Palestine were offered their own state by the UN in 1948. They rejected having their own state, living in peace side by side with Israel, for joining Arab armies attacking the small democracy in the promise of having it all.

Desperate to have CNN, FOX, BBC, AP and Reuters to point their cameras away from government forces in Syria, Libya and Iran slaughtering thousands of people who are demanding freedom, democracy and peace, Arab PR terrorists are now using poor Palestinians to bleed for their governments.

No different than Turkey and Qatar trying to appease Islamic terrorists by paying the public relations firm Fenton Communications in Washington, D.C. to create the so called Gaza peace flotilla to break the so called siege of Gaza (no one is starving in Gaza - they receive tons of food daily by the UN and the Red Cross just stated there is no humanitarian crisis in Gaza) - Syria and Iran are seeking to attack Israel to keep their own citizens under dictatorships.
No where in the Middle East, except for Jordan, is there a democracy which provides full respect and human rights for Palestinians other than Israel.

While at the same time, Syria, Iran and Libya pay poor Palestinians to throw rocks at Israel Defense Forces (IDF) troops, Israel police and Jewish and Christian civilians. Palestinians who live inside Israel are happy people. They have full human rights, socialized medicine and equal opportunity for work and to serve in Israel's Knesset (Parliament).

Who are the true victims of the Nakba Day Palestine protests in Israel?

Palestinians. Not because they lost a state that they rejected in 1948 and every day since. But because they allow themselves to be used by Syria and Iran for a day of lethal PR exercises while risking their lives, their family lives and a true and lasting peace in the region.

Iran, Syria and Libya are praying that Israel forces will kill some of the paid Palestine protesters in Jerusalem and in the West Bank. Once that happens, they would use that as an excuse to launch missile attacks against Israel cities from Gaza and Lebanon, again praying for a war against Israel that would take the media spotlight away from the murder and repression of their own citizens.

As the Arab revolutions for democracy take place, one cannot forget the many signs that were seen in Egypt just a few weeks ago.

These signs read: "Israel is not hurting me - my own government is bombing me. Please stop!"

Mourning By Modem For Rabin

Perturbations, pleasures, and predicaments on the information superhighway:

Arnon Katz, 28-year-old Israeli computer specialist, lay awake the night Yitzhak Rabin was slain. He was, he said, consumed with the need to do something. So by 2 a.m. he and a colleague had a condolence page up and running on the World Wide Web. By the next day it already had thousands of "visits" from all over the world.

And by the day after that it was also polished graphically, with a photograph and short biography of Rabin, a place for signatures and messages, and a final touch, an invitation to each visitor to light a virtual candle. Flickering candles now march down the page until a count on the final page is reached. (As of 2 p.m. Wednesday EST, there were over 15,000.)

Katz and Joel Leyden, a New York transplant to Tel Aviv, are in the process of opening Netking, an on-line service in Israel akin to Prodigy and America Online. "We had the staff and the tools all in place," Leyden said, "so we could put the page up onto the Internet very quickly."

It has only been four months, Katz said in a phone conversation this week from Tel Aviv, that the group has been working toward a Netking launch. Katz himself, although a marketing and communications specialist, has been involved with the Internet for only about a year "after my father-in-law gave me a modem." But he quickly found himself spending much of his time "playing," as his friends and family put it, with bulletin boards in Israel. "I decided it better be my job," he said.

"It's too bad that our launch comes in such a sad way," he said, "but this gives people a way to express how they feel in a personal and easy way."

The pair expect to keep the page up for an indefinite period and eventually will make a book for the Rabin family and the Israeli government.

The messages include quotations and poetry along with expressions of condolence in many languages and alphabets, from countries as distant as Afghanistan and Uganda, Portugal and Australia, Romania and Norway, Singapore, Hong Kong, New Zealand and, of course, Israel, the United States and Canada.

"There are messages from Jews, Christians, Muslims and many others," Katz said. -- Sandy Rovner RoVVy@aol.com

Obama: Osama bin Laden, Leader of 9/11, Killed In Firefight With US

Obama: Osama bin Laden, Leader of 9/11, Killed In Firefight With US Troops

Bin Laden dead, nuclear Iran must now be addressed.

Washington D.C. ---- May 1, 2011 ...... US President Barack Obama has just announced that 9/11 terror attack mastermind, al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden, was killed by US special forces in Pakistan.

“Tonight, I can report to the American people and to the world that the United States has conducted an operation that killed Usama bin Laden, the leader of Al Qaeda,” said President Obama.

Obama said bin Laden was not a Muslim leader, but a "mass murderer of Muslims." The President said bin Laden was captured with the help of Pakistani intelligence.

Bin Laden was killed, along with other members of his family in a mansion outside Islamabad.
Diplomats in Israel congratulate the US President and the people of the free world in this victory of democracy over Islamic Jihad.

After reports of repeated initial denials, in 2004 Usama bin Laden claimed responsibility for the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States. The Islamic terror attacks involved the hijacking of four US commercial passenger aircraft, the subsequent destruction of those planes and the World Trade Center in New York City, New York, severe damage to The Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, and the deaths of 2,974 people and the nineteen hijackers.

In response to the 9/11 terror attacks, the US launched a War on Terror to depose the Taliban regime in Afghanistan and capture al-Qaeda operatives, and several countries strengthened their anti-terrorism legislation to preclude future attacks. The CIA's Special Activities Division was given the lead in tracking down and killing or capturing bin Laden.

Israel security analysts state that bin Laden death will have a direct affect on Hamas, Islamic Jihad and Hezbollah operations.

"US Special Forces are to be complimented for having conducted a precise operation in killing bin Laden, without losing any of their own forces or any innocent civilians," said the security analyst."Islamic Jihad has just lost a few more men to virgins in heaven. This is a day for every democracy, every peace loving Muslim, Jew and Christian to celebrate and embrace. But we must remember that the war on terrorism is not yet over. The present government of Iran is doing all they can to create nuclear weapons to use against Israel, Europe and the US. We can smile about bin Laden, but must not lose focus that Iran President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has sworn to wipe Israel off the map. Israel will continue to take every measure to insure the security of the people of Israel and all citizens of the free, democratic world."

Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated: "This is a resounding triumph for justice, freedom and the values shared by all democratic nations fighting shoulder to shoulder in determination against terrorism."

Israel President Shimon Peres applauded the killing of Osama bin Laden, saying that it was a great achievement for the US defense establishment, US President Barack Obama and the free world.

"Bin Laden was one of the biggest murderers in history and he received his sentence," said Peres. "The world can breathe a sigh of relief at seeing the punishment he received, despite the fact that justice was late in coming."

The news reaches Israel as the Jewish nation marks Holocaust Memorial Day.
