Fathers 4 Justice To Sue City of Ra'anana, Abusing Mother for 10 Million

Fathers 4 Justice To Sue City of Ra'anana, Abusing Mother for 10 Million Message List

Tel Aviv, Israel ----- Israel News Agency ---- July 31..... Fathers 4 Justice Israel, which
advocates equal access to the children of divorced parents, has announced that
it will file a 10 million dollar lawsuit against the city of Ra'anana, Israel
and a divorced mother who has been accused of child abuse.

"Israel is one of most advanced democracies in the world, but when it comes to
children's rights it is a third world country," said Director of Fathers 4
Justice Israel Joel Leyden.

"Gender bias discrimination has been practiced in Israel since the modern state
was born. Fathers are allowed to carry M-16's but not allowed to carry their own
children."

Leyden states that a case of child physical and emotional abuse in Ra'anana,
Israel illustrates this fact.

A hard working, responsible divorced father has been the victim of criminal
harassment by private detectives ever since he requested the police to
investigate complaints by his child of physical child abuse by her mother. The
woman, who is originally from the UK and earns 2.5 million dollars a year, has
used a small balance of child support as an excuse to criminally harass her ex.
She states that she has "every right to go after past child support money" using
the free services of her family's law office in Netanya, Israel, private
investigators, the courts and the police.

Fathers 4 Justice Israel states that she does not have the right to traumatize
and emotionally abuse her 9-year-old child.

"This divorced mother could have settled each and every issue over a cup of
coffee but chose to increase tension and conflict by using the free legal
services of Feder Law in Netanya," said Leyden. "Feder Law then retained private
detectives who threatened the father and assaulted him in front of his daughter.
As his daughter was screaming "stop, you're killing my daddy" neighbors came out
and photographed the assault. Police are expected to send the case to the
Attorney General's Office in Israel."

Leyden states that the City of Ra'anana, Israel child welfare department and
Ra'anana Mayor Nachum Hofree have refused to take any action to protect the
child from the mother.

"We believe that the mother is narcissistic, emotionally disturbed and unable to
care for the best interests of the child," said Leyden. "What mother sends men
to beat up the father of her child?"

To make matters even worse, the father of the child has been harassed to the
point where the stress has taken a serious toll on his heart. During the period
of harassment, 3 months, the father developed diabetes, high cholesterol and is
now preparing to have heart surgery this week. According to Leyden, this mother
does not want money, as she earns over 2 million USD per year, but wants the
father dead.

"A witness told Fathers 4 Justice that the mother had told her that she wishes
the father would leave Israel, and if that were not to happen, wishes that he
would choke on something. That is a death threat and Ra'anana Child Welfare has
not responded. The only responsible parties are the police, who have been
dealing with this case and many others with complete and total understanding.
They don't behave like robots but they again are at the mercy of the justice
system."

Ra'anana Child Welfare told Fathers 4 Justice Israel that they cannot do
anything. That only the family court has the power. Meanwhile the family court
system in Israel relies totally on the advice and judgments of Child Welfare.

"The fathers suffer. But much worse the children suffer from trauma and PAS
(Parental Alienation Syndrome) while these cases are ignored and treated like ping
pong balls," says Leyden.

"The bottom line should ultimately land in the office of the Mayor who is
responsible for child welfare. Ra'anana Mayor Nachum Hofree only response to
these cases was to investigate and that was two years ago."

Jerusalem ---- July 15, 2010 …. Sitting at over two dozen tables at the new Peres Center for Peace in Jaffa Tel Aviv today are entrepreneurs from Israel and Palestine territories. From Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Haifa to Rahmallah, Nablus and Qalqilya they all share one dream. At Israel Startup Weekend 2010 they have been provided with a platform to suggest the most creative ideas in technology and Web 2.0 and a means to turn their dreams into reality.

Israel Startup Weekend is a partnership between the Shimon Peres Center for Peace, as the first ever collaboration of Jewish and Arab hi tech, Web 2.0 and new media entrepreneurs and developers from Israel, the Palestinian Authority and the United States.

IsIt Software, which measures in realtime the accuracy of information on the Internet won the first Israel Startup Weekend held 8 months ago at IBM Israel. They were one of over 60 ideas and 13 startups created at the event.

"It's an exciting opportunity," says IsIt Senior VP of Marketing Joel Leyden. "Both Amir Harel and Eddie Reznik, the coordinators of Israel Startup Weekend are to be applauded for having created this special initiative in Israel. The participants should look at both Amir and Eddie for inspiration. They are focused, work hard and completely dedicated to their work."

Leyden, an Internet pioneer who co-created Israel's first Website - NetKing and serves today as an international marketing, branding, SEO and digital PR crisis communications consultant to both commercial organizations and the Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs, provides the following advice on how to win at Israel Startup Weekend.

"First off, arrive to the Israel Startup Weekend well rested. It is three very intensive days of creation, work and presentation. Then provide or join a team whose idea really turns you on. Each team member should be responsible for one professional task - directing as a CEO, developing, marketing, Web 2.0, creating graphics and research."

Leyden adds: "Use the Internet to search out to see if anyone else has your idea. Even if they do, continue, go on and try to improve upon that idea. Borrowing ideas from others and integrating them into something new is what it's all about. Buy a domain name and start to build a Website to promote the idea. Writing about who you are and what you are doing will help both you and your team define what you are doing while at the same time creating a marketing and PR buzz."

"Listen to what your other team members have to say. If you don't agree, then compromise and move forward. Creating a startup is not just about coming up with a good idea but establishing a dynamic team which can commit to that idea with time, effort and communicate that idea to the public. While developing your ideas speak with Israel Startup Weekend coordinators, ask them for advice. This is not a time to be shy. Be aggressive with a smile. Perform research on which markets would have a need for your startup, developers should find a code which is easy to use, copywriters and graphic professionals need to keep the message simple and strong."

Leyden concludes: "You got this far. You dedicated three days to finding that one startup which just might change your life and the lives of many others. As you enter day 3, get some rest, sleep well and create a visual presentation which is both simple and powerful. Make sure to include a business plan in your presentation with projected markets and figures needs for investment and growth. Rehearse your presentation and rehearse answering questions from the judges. Smile and be confident. Make it happen!"

"Startup Weekend is an international event that integrates the networking of both the mobile and Internet community," said Israel Startup Weekend organizer Eddie Reznik. "But this year, we are going to transcend all digital and political borders. There is no greater tool for peace and understanding than technology, the Net and Web 2.0 and as such we are proud to bring creative minds together from both Israel and the Palestinian territories."

Israel Startup Weekend 2010 is taking place July 14 -16, at the Peres Peace House in Jaffa.

Startup Weekend has been introduced to more than 15,000 entrepreneurs in over 100 cities around the world. Founded in June 2007, Startup Weekend provides a platform to pitch an idea, build the concept and present it to the audience in around 50 hours. At least 500 companies have been created over the lifetime of the worldwide event raising more than $2M in financing.

Israel Startup Weekend 2010 judges are comprised of representatives of leading companies, investors and representatives of foundations such as the law firm of Amit Pollak Matalon, Google Israel, IBM, Paypal, Deloitte and others.

Last year, Israel Startup Weekend was sponsored by IBM Israel, Google Israel and several other leading brands in the field of hi-tech and Internet. From over 200 participants and 13 startups created, IsIt Fact Checking Software was created and captured first place. IsIt Software recently registered its patent pending and is currently negotiating with several investors (angels and VC companies).

Startup Weekend was born in 2007 in the US by Andrew Hyde. Today Startup Weekend is operated out of Seattle, WA by Marc Nager and Clint Nelsen with development support coming from Cameron Preston, Mick Thompson and Timothy Ting.

Sponsors of Israel Startup Weekend 2010 in Jaffa Tel Aviv include: The Peres Center For Peace, Mercy Corps, Amit, Pollak, Matalon and Co., Paypal Pte Ltd., IBM Israel, Google Israel, Deloitte Accounting,Hamovil Jack Yulzari Ltd., Itay Strum Financial Services, Newsgeek, ESOP Management and Trust Company Ltd., The Leyden Digital PR, SEO, Internet Marketing Web 2.0 Communications Group and IsIt? Online Fact Checking Software.

According to Resnik, Israel is the most logical place for StartUp Weekend.

“It is well known that Israel is the ‘Silicon Wadi’ next to the US West Coast "Silicon Valley". For any number of reasons – enjoying a hi-tech IDF army, a heavy influx of highly intelligent and motivated Russian immigrants, a lack of natural resources - Israel has become and is respected for being a hotbed for startups and innovation."

The majority of participants at the sold out Israel Startup Weekend discovered the event as it was advertised using viral marketing on social networking Internet sites such as Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter.

"Israel Startup Weekend is not about who wins first place prize," says Leyden. "It's about networking with professional people, developing an idea and then marketing that idea. The real work begins after Startup Weekend when you and your team must commit both the time and effort to legally establish a company and secure funds. The process is not easy. There will be many mountains and valleys but if you persevere and don't become greedy, the rewards could transcend anything you may have imagined."

The Israel News Agency will continue to report live from Israel Startup Weekend via Twitter and Facebook status updates and Google News stories.

Oldest Written Historical Document Ever Found in Jerusalem

Oldest Written Historical Document Ever Found in Jerusalem

The Jerusalem Post

Archeologists unearth 14th century BCE fragment.

Jerusalem ---- July 12, 2010 ...... Hebrew University excavations recently unearthed a clay fragment dating back to the 14th century BCE, said to be the oldest written document ever found in Jerusalem.

The tiny fragment is only 2 cm. by 2.8 cm. in surface area and 1 cm. thick and appears to have once been part of a larger tablet. Researchers say the ancient fragment testifies to Jerusalem’s importance as a major city late in the Bronze Age, long before it was conquered by King David.

The minuscule fragment contains Akkadian words written in ancient cuneiform symbols. Researchers say that while the symbols appear to be insignificant, containing simply the words “you,” “you were,” “them,” “to do,” and “later,” the high quality of the writing indicates that it was written by a highly skilled scribe. Such a revelation would mean that the piece was likely written for tablets that were part of a royal household.

The find was uncovered in a fill taken from the Ophel area, which lies between the Old City’s southern wall and the
City of David. The Ophel digs are being carried out by Dr. Eilat Mazar of the Hebrew University Institute of Archeology, through funding from US donors Daniel Mintz and Meredith Berkman of New York.

According to Mazar, the fragment was discovered over a month and a half ago during wet sifting of the Ophel excavations, but was only released to the press this week because researchers wanted to wait until analysis of the piece was complete so as to be absolutely certain of the details of the find.

The most ancient piece of writing found in Jerusalem before the Ophel fragment was a tablet unearthed in the Shiloah water in the City of David, dating back to the eighth century BCE – nearly 600 years “younger” than the Ophel find.

Hebrew University Prof. Wayne Horowitz, a scholar of Assyriology, deciphered the script with the assistance of his former graduate student Dr.

Takayoshi Oshima. Horowitz said thatwhile the script was too broken to get context out of it, the quality of the writing gave some indication of the creator’s pedigree.

“What we can see is that the piece was written in very good script and the tablet was constructed very well. This indicates that the person responsible for creating the tablet was a first-class scribe.

In those days, you would expect to find a first-class scribe only in a large, important place,” he said.

According to Horowitz, the high quality of the tablet piece indicates that it was most likely part of a message sent from a then-king of Jerusalem to the pharaoh in Egypt.

Horowitz said that the fragment, which is made of Jerusalem clay, indicated that Jerusalem was one of the central cities of the area at the time.

“This shows Jerusalem was not a provincial backwater, [but] one of the main cities of the area,” he said.

Mazar called the fragment “one of the most important finds we’ve ever had” and said she hoped it would lead to further big discoveries.

“A piece this small wouldn’t have been sitting there all by itself; there have to be more pieces like it,” she said.

In February, Hebrew University excavations led by Mazar in the Ophel area found ancient stone fortifications dating back some 3,000 years to the time of King Solomon and the First Temple.

Archeologists said that the 70-meter long and 6-m.-high wall indicated that there had been a strong central government in Jerusalem at the time, which had the manpower and resources to construct large-scale fortifications.
