Half Of American Jews Are Clueless On Syria, Israel, Middle-East

By Joel Leyden

During Rosh Hashana services this evening in New England the Rabbi wanted to know who was for and who was against a US military strike against Syria.

Half the hands were raised for the strike, half the hands were raised to stay away.

Amazing.

Jews who had relatives gassed to death 60 years ago in Holocaust Europe would rather ignore the children who were just gassed in Syria. Over 400 of them.

Many asked me, as an Israeli, what I thought.

At first I wanted to say that anything that brings down the Syrian government is a good thing.
But then I thought of the more potent reality.

Holocaust.
Genocide.

As Jews, we have every obligation to make sure that not one child is murdered by weapons of mass destruction. Whether that child is Jewish, Christian or Muslim makes no difference.

Are we to forget how the US government and most of Europe ignored the Holocaust?
Are we to repeat that same mistake because it is so far away?

That American Jews are 6,000 miles from Damascus and Tel Aviv. To say that it is not in their backyard, not affecting them is a most terrible mistake.

It affects us all.

Even more so, after a US strike on Syria to eliminate weapons of mass destruction, Syria will not attack the US but will strike at Israel.

For those who raised their hands against a US strike - you were voting against my children living a normal life in Israel. A life without the threat of chemical weapons.

And for the one person who stood up and said that the UN had no proof of who used the gas - please read the newspapers. The Israeli Secret Service recorded conversations of members of the Syrian military discussing an attack that they coordinated with WMD. The tape recordings have been given to the NSA, CIA and the White House.

As Jews who cherish life.
As Jews who experienced a Holocaust, we must be the first to say: "Yes, strike the military in Syria and disarm all weapons of mass destruction.

If we don't, expect missiles with gas to be pointed next at Israel, then Europe and then - Cleveland, Miami, Houston, Boston and San Diego.

Islamic Jihad will not disappear by ignoring it.
This "holy" war against democracy, Jews and Christians must be addressed, neutralized and won.

My children live in Israel.
They carry gas masks.

Where do your children live?

Joel I beg to disagree. We and especially the USA should NOT intervene. I say like my Lebanese friends have told me STAY OUT. As I wrote in my Blog Especially in light of it’s two warring fractions that I term "Bad" or "Even Worst".
It is my fervent wish; I hope it is yours too, for them to murder each other in droves. The “Pro Assad” "Secular" Baath regime is being backed by the fanatically religious Shi'ite regime of Iran and their Lebanese lackeys the Hezbollah. The rebels are a confused mixture with a new and odious vicious group The Chechnian Al Qaeda.

This particularly vicious radical and fanatical Sunni Moslem religious group is involved in the fighting and they are getting stronger. For the moment they are fighting against the forces of Assad and the Hezbollah. And for once I actually agree with Russian President Vladimir Putkin and with the Ruskies that as long as the Al Qaeda’s Chechen, Caucasian fighters are getting killed and the Hezbollah are being killed we should be immensely thankful! As my Christian Lebanese friends say; “Inshallah may they continue!” http://mydailykvetch.blogspot.co.il/2013/08/obama-and-assads-blood-stained-line.html
